Okay so cycling outfits. Hear me out. I know it sounds like a niche thing to make a whole roundup about but honestly? Cycling has become THE thing lately and the gear has gotten so cute. Like genuinely cute, not just “cute for athletic wear” cute. We’re at a point where you’d legitimately wear some of this stuff to brunch after your ride and not feel weird about it.
The thing with a good cycling outfit is it has to actually function for the ride – like, padded shorts are not optional if you’re going more than 30 minutes, sorry.
But within those functional pieces there’s so much room for personality. Color, print, vibe. It’s not just about looking like you’re about to do the Tour de France.
Anyway. I pulled a bunch of cycling fits I’ve been loving lately. Some lean serious, some lean cute Sunday cruise. Let’s get into it.
Padded bike shorts with oversized tee
This is the casual cyclist starter pack right here. Padded shorts because your butt will thank you, oversized tee because it’s giving “I bike for fun not for sport.” Honestly the most comfortable combo.
You can ride for hours in this and then immediately go grab a coffee and you don’t look like you just came from a serious workout.
Matching cycling jersey set
Okay so matching sets are kind of cheating in the best way. You put it on, you look intentional, you didn’t have to think about anything.
A proper cycling jersey set is designed to work together and it shows. There’s something about a matching kit that just makes you feel like you actually know what you’re doing.
Black biker shorts with white tank
Black and white. Always. Like, what else do you need? This combo just works no matter what.
Universal flattering, photographs nicely, doesn’t try too hard. If you’re new to building cycling fits start here and you can’t go wrong.
Retro colorblock cycling look
Retro colorblock is having SUCH a moment in cycling specifically. There’s this whole 90s cycling aesthetic that keeps coming back and honestly I’m not mad about it.
Those bold color combinations, the slightly throwback vibe, the panel detailing… it’s giving “I bike on weekends with my cool friends” energy.
Sleek all-black ride outfit
All-black for cycling is genuinely so chic. Like nothing else needs to happen.
Black on black on black, maybe a black helmet to complete the look, and you look like you’re in a sports brand commercial. The minimalism just lands.
Pastel jersey with neutral shorts
Pastels for a Sunday cruise? Yes please. A soft pastel jersey paired with neutral shorts is giving the cutest spring cycling vibes.
It’s not too serious, it’s not too casual, it’s right in that sweet spot of intentional but easy. Honestly my favorite way to dress for casual rides.
Zip-up top with biker shorts
A zip-up is so functional for cycling because temperature changes are real. You start cold, you warm up fast, and being able to zip down halfway is genuinely a game changer.
Plus zip-up tops just look sportier in that good way without being too serious about it.
Windbreaker with cycling leggings
For when there’s wind, which on a bike is… always. A good windbreaker is honestly such a smart investment.
They’re lightweight enough to not overheat you but they block the wind so you’re not freezing. Cycling leggings just complete the package and you’re set for any kind of slightly cool weather ride.
Cropped jacket with bike shorts
A cropped jacket over bike shorts is such a good proportion play.
The shorter jacket length means it doesn’t bunch up while you’re riding (annoying when that happens, very annoying), and it shows off the high waist of the shorts which is just more flattering generally. Function and form.
Monochrome beige cycling set
Okay a monochrome BEIGE cycling set? Stop it. This is so unexpectedly chic.
We’re so used to seeing cycling gear in bold colors but a soft neutral beige set is giving high-end athletic wear energy. The kind of thing where someone sees you and goes “what brand is that” and you get to do the casual humble brag.
Sporty tank with padded shorts
For when it’s hot and you just need to ride. A sporty tank with padded shorts is the no-frills, get-it-done outfit.
It’s not trying to be cute, but it ends up looking cute anyway because the proportions just work. The padding situation cannot be overstated for longer rides, by the way.
Long-sleeve jersey outfit
A long-sleeve jersey is so smart for cooler rides. Sun protection in summer, warmth in cooler weather, no chafing under your arms. The full sleeve coverage is just easier in so many situations.
And modern cycling jerseys actually have nice cuts now, not just the boxy stuff from the past.
Reflective jacket with leggings
If you ride early in the morning or in the evening please please please get reflective gear. It’s not just a fashion choice, it’s a safety thing.
And reflective jackets have gotten way cuter than they used to be. We’re not stuck with construction-worker-yellow vibes anymore.
White jersey with black shorts
White top, black bottoms. Reverse of one of the earlier looks but somehow it hits different.
The crisp white jersey just looks SO clean against black, especially in photos. There’s a reason this is like the unofficial uniform of casual cycling.
Minimal grey cycling look
Grey is so underrated for cycling honestly. It’s softer than black, more interesting than white, and it photographs in this really moody way that I love.
A minimal grey cycling look is the kind of thing where the styling is doing all the work without any of the colors trying too hard.
Bold printed bike shorts
For when you want your shorts to do the talking. Bold printed bike shorts can completely change the energy of an outfit.
Pair them with something simple on top and let the shorts be the moment. It’s a low-effort way to look like you have personality without trying super hard.
Soft pink cycling set
Soft pink everything. Be the cutest girl on the trail. There’s something about a full soft pink cycling set that’s just so unapologetically feminine, and I’m here for it.
Cycling doesn’t have to be all aggressive serious sport vibes. Pastels are valid. Lean in.
Mesh top with biker shorts
Mesh tops are SO breathable. If you’re riding in summer heat, this is the move.
The mesh lets air through which means you’re not soaking wet ten minutes into your ride, and the slightly see-through situation just looks really intentional and current.
Lightweight vest with leggings
A vest is so genius for cycling. It keeps your core warm (the part that actually matters) while letting your arms move freely without overheating.
Pair it with leggings and you’ve got an outfit for those transitional weather rides where you don’t know if it’s going to be cold or warm.
Navy jersey with matching shorts
Navy is genuinely such a chic cycling color. It has that classic nautical feel but for sport, and a matching navy jersey and shorts set is giving very specific European-cycling-tour vibes.
Compression shorts with crop top
Compression shorts with a crop top. The hot girl ride uniform. Compression shorts are flattering, supportive, and actually serve a purpose for longer rides (the muscle support is real).
Bright cycling jacket outfit
And we’re ending on a bright cycling jacket. Bright colors for cycling aren’t just a vibe, they’re practical – cars can see you way better when you’re in a bright jacket.
And the right bright color in cycling gear actually just looks SO cute. Don’t be afraid to commit to a bold color. It’s worth it.
