9 Simple Things That Make Life More Exciting I Did Recently

Last year, I consciously started implementing small, simple things into my life to make my everyday routine feel more exciting and adventurous. And what I realized is that it is usually the tiniest things that have the biggest impact.

They make you feel happier, more present, and somehow more fulfilled. It is not about huge life changes. It is about small, playful decisions that turn ordinary moments into memories.

Trying Random Things Just Because You Can

Testing Viral Trends With Your Friends

Not too long ago, I was in a café with my best friend and we tried these so-called miracle fruits that are supposed to change how things taste. I had absolutely no idea what they were. She just said she had seen them on TikTok and that they looked cool.

So we tried them.

And honestly, it was kind of a flop. It was not even the original version, so maybe that played a role, but it was definitely not as magical as we expected. Still, it was such a funny experience. We were sitting there, testing different flavors, waiting for something crazy to happen, and just laughing about how overhyped it was. And that is exactly the point. Even when something does not live up to the hype, it still becomes a memory.

Buying New Snacks and Drinks While Traveling

Whenever I travel, which I genuinely love doing, I always check what snacks and drinks they have locally that we do not have at home. Many countries have special editions that are not available in Germany or at least not yet.

For example, in Fuerteventura I discovered a specific Monster flavor before it was available everywhere else in Europe. It was this strawberry tropical kind of flavor, and I remember buying it, going on a small solo day trip, and walking along the beach with my feet in the water while drinking it in the sun.

It sounds so simple, but it became such a core memory. I can still picture it so clearly. I was alone, discovering a new taste, in a new place, and it just felt cool. It felt new.

Making Ordinary Moments Feel Special

Booking a Hotel Just for the Experience

One thing I love doing is booking a hotel room and then ordering pizza to the reception. I always imagine the people downstairs wondering why someone is ordering pizza to a hotel.

Then you walk through the lobby with your pizza boxes, go up to your room, and play cards. It is such a simple thing, but it feels different. It feels cozy and slightly adventurous at the same time. Being in a clean, freshly made hotel room changes the whole vibe of something as basic as eating pizza.

Going All In at the Cinema

Last year, we went to the cinema and got a huge portion of classic movie theater popcorn. Not the small size. The big one. And we just fully embraced the whole experience.

Sometimes it is about not holding back and letting yourself enjoy the cliché version of something.

Getting Cotton Candy Again

We also went to a fair and randomly decided to get cotton candy. Cotton candy is basically just sugar, and you probably had it as a child and then never again. But trying it again after so many years felt nostalgic and fun. It instantly brought back childhood memories.

Celebrating Seasons and Little Themes

Trying Fall Editions Right at Release

When Starbucks released their fall editions, I went there right at the start and tried one of the pumpkin spice drinks. It is such a small thing, but it makes you feel like you are fully stepping into the season instead of just letting it pass.

Doing a Halloween-Themed Night

On Halloween, we had a Halloween night with friends where we made ghost-inspired pizzas. We simply decorated normal pizzas in a way that made them look like little ghosts. It was not complicated, but it made the evening feel themed and special.

Experimenting in the Kitchen

Testing New Baking Mixes

One evening, we made cinnamon rolls using a vegan and gluten-free baking mix we had discovered in the supermarket. They tasted amazing. You would not have guessed they were gluten-free.

However, they did not look particularly good. The consistency was slightly off and they looked chaotic. But that is exactly what made it fun. We laughed about it and enjoyed the process.

That is why I can really recommend that when you are in the supermarket and see a new baking mix or a product you have never tried, just buy it. Even if it turns out to be a flop, invite friends over and try it together. It automatically becomes an experience.

Trying Foods You Normally Avoid

We once went to a Mexican restaurant even though I am not the biggest tomato fan. I usually avoid Mexican food because so many dishes include tomatoes, and I never felt like it was for me.

But we tried a new restaurant anyway, and in the end it was actually really good. I had a burrito and it genuinely surprised me. If I had just stuck to what I always order, I would have never known.

The Real Secret

All of this comes down to one simple thing: stay curious.

Order something different. Taste something new. Book the hotel. Buy the weird baking mix. Get the cotton candy. Try the seasonal drink. Say yes to the new flavor.

It is not about doing something extreme. It is about letting small adventures into your everyday life. And those small adventures are what make your life feel exciting, cozy, and memorable at the same time.
