The Best 28+ Summer Fairs Outfits You’ll Be Obsessed With

I am just sitting here on my porch right now, watching the sun go down and feeling that super warm evening breeze. It instantly made me think of one thing – fair season! Is there literally anything better than the smell of roasted corn, cotton candy, and the sound of those slightly terrifying but totally amazing carnival rides? I think not.

Honestly, finding the perfect Fair Outfits has been my main hyper-focus all week. I want to look cute for all the photos we are obviously going to take, but I also refuse to be uncomfortable while I am walking around on dirt paths for ten hours straight. So, I did what I always do and went down a massive Pinterest rabbit hole to find the absolute best inspiration for us.

Before we get into the looks, I have to tell you a quick story so you understand why I am so obsessed with planning these outfits now. A couple of years ago, we all went to this huge regional fair. I decided it would be a brilliant idea to wear a pristine, bright white romper. Well, my auntie was running a food stand there selling her famous Indian tacos and fresh frybread.

Obviously, I had to support her and eat a massive plate. Five minutes in, I completely dropped a huge piece of fluffy frybread covered in powdered sugar and cherry sauce right down my front. It looked like a crime scene. I had to walk around the rest of the day looking like a messy toddler. Me and my cousins still laugh about it to this day! Ever since that absolute disaster, I am super strategic about what I wear. Darker colors, denim, and washable fabrics are my best friends now.

Plus Size Festival Magic

Okay, starting off incredibly strong here. I am so in love with how flowy and effortless this whole vibe is. A sheer layer over a comfortable base is literally the smartest way to dress when you are spending the entire day outside in the blazing sun. It gives you coverage without making you sweat to death. You would look amazing in a color palette like this!

Denim on Denim Dreams

You can literally never ever go wrong with double denim. It is such a classic, rugged look that just screams “I am here to ride the mechanical bull and eat a bucket of fries.” I love how the distressed shorts balance out the structured top. It is casual but still looks super intentional.

Beating the Warm Weather

When the temperature is creeping up and the air feels super heavy, this is exactly what you want to be wearing. It is basically the ultimate summer fair outfit because it is breathable and light. I actually found a tank top just like this at a thrift store last week, and I am definitely pairing it with my favorite vintage Levi’s.

Edgy Vibes for the Midway

If you want to bring a little bit more of a city edge to the dusty fairgrounds, this is the blueprint. Chunky boots are actually a lifesaver when you are navigating through crowds and stepping over cables. Plus, they look incredibly cool paired with a feminine little dress.

Golden Hour Poses

We definitely need to practice our angles before we go, because the golden hour lighting near the Ferris wheel is simply too good to waste. A simple, basic look like this makes a perfect street fair outfit. It lets your accessories and your glowing skin do all the talking. Just add some layered necklaces and you are completely set.

Effortless and Casual

This is for those lazy Sunday afternoons when we just want to wander around, look at the farm animals, and maybe buy some homemade jams. It is comfy, easy, and you do not have to fuss with it at all. Sometimes keeping it simple is the most stylish choice you can make.

Classic County Fair Look

Plaid just belongs at a county event, do not even try to argue with me on this one! Tying a flannel around your waist is the oldest trick in the book, but it works every single time. It defines your waist and gives you a backup layer for when the sun goes down and it gets chilly. Perfection.

Boots Made for Walking

Can we please take a moment for these boots? I am fully obsessed. I know wearing tall boots in the summer sounds crazy to some people, but if you have ever had your toes stepped on by a loose sheep in the petting zoo, you know exactly why I wear boots. Safety first, but make it fashion!

Picture Perfect Moments

The framing of this photo is everything. The bright colors of the rides against the simple outfit creates such a stunning contrast. This is exactly the aesthetic we are going for when we force someone to take candids of us laughing at absolutely nothing.

Flattering and Fun

I absolutely adore a good two-piece set for a long day out. It is the ideal food festival outfit because the elastic waistbands are incredibly forgiving when you are eating your weight in funnel cake and fried Oreos.

Sweet and Simple

There is something so nostalgic about this look. It just reminds me of being a teenager and walking around trying to bump into your crush near the tilt-a-whirl. A cute graphic tee tucked into some high-waisted shorts is a uniform that will never let you down.

Sundress Season

A little white dress is so brave, but so beautiful. If you are going to risk it, this is the way to do it. Just maybe stay away from the mustard dispensers and the powdered sugar stands if you decide to rock this one. I learned my lesson, remember?

Lights, Camera, Carnival

The neon lights reflect so beautifully off a simple outfit. W

Midway Strolls

I love the movement in this picture. You can just feel the energy of the crowds and the music playing from the speakers. This casual, sporty look is perfect for darting between slow walkers and getting to the front of the line for the bumper cars.

Ferris Wheel Ready

Okay, speaking of the Ferris wheel, we are definitely going on it right at sunset. It is tradition! You need a look that looks good sitting down, and this breezy combo is exactly that. Plus, it won’t wrinkle horribly while you are squished in those tiny little carts.

Graphic Tees and Good Times

A vintage-inspired graphic tee is my actual love language. When we are browsing through rows of handmade goods and pottery, a relaxed artisan market outfit like this makes you look like a cool, creative local. I usually pair mine with some silver hoop earrings to dress it up a little bit.

Southern Charm

Even if you are not from the south, you can totally embrace this energy for a day. The hat is a non-negotiable accessory here. It keeps the sun out of your eyes so you can properly judge the giant pumpkins in the agriculture tent.

Fresh Picks and Cute Fits

This gives me major Saturday morning vibes.

Winning the Giant Prize

Oh my gosh, seeing this giant pink teddy bear reminds me of the time we spent way too much money playing that balloon dart game! I finally popped the last balloon and won this massive stuffed dog. It was bigger than me! I had to carry it around the entire rest of the evening, and my arms were literally shaking by the time we got back to the car.

West Coast Inspiration

The LA County Fair always looks so incredibly aesthetic online. To capture this vibe, you just need a fun pop of color. This would make such a perfect craft fair outfit because it is comfortable enough to walk in for hours while you hunt for the best homemade candles and soaps.

Tote Bags and Tomatoes

A canvas tote bag is the most essential accessory you can possibly bring. Period. Where else are you going to put all the random stuff you buy? Last time we went to a local event, I wore a super cute makers market outfit – just a linen dress and my favorite sandals – and I bought this gorgeous beaded turquoise ring from an elder from our neighboring tribe.

Citrus Tones and Sunshine

This pop of bright orange is so fun and vibrant. Adding a bold, saturated color to your look instantly boosts your mood.

Overalls for the Win

Overalls are my secret weapon. They are basically an entire outfit in one piece, they have tons of pockets for your tickets and cash, and they look adorable on absolutely everyone. Pair them with a cute crop top underneath and you are golden.

Boho Chic Energy

If you want to lean into the whole bohemian, free-spirit vibe, this is your sign. Fringe, suede, and floral prints are always welcome. It is a very relaxed, earthy aesthetic that looks so gorgeous in the natural outdoor lighting.

The Boxer Short Trend

Okay, hear me out on this one. I was hesitant at first too, but styling these casual, breezy shorts with a nice button-down shirt is actually such a vibe right now. It is supremely comfortable and gives off this very cool, unbothered energy. I am definitely trying this out on our next weekend adventure.
