Latest Hairstyle Trends 2026 You Can’t Get Around Right Now

New Summer, Completely New Era – Everything We’re Actually Asking Our Stylists For Right Now

Okay guys, I really need to talk about what is happening with hair right now because I am literally so obsessed. For the past few years, I feel like we were all just doing the exact same thing. We were all terrified to chop our hair, everyone had the same flat color, and it just felt like we were totally stuck in this weird, endless loop of playing it safe. But honestly? The latest hairstyle trends 2026 are finally giving us some actual personality back and I am so here for it.

I was sitting in my salon a few weeks ago, basically begging my stylist to just do something – anything – to make me look less tired and boring. We ended up having this massive deep dive into all the mood boards and reference photos that are blowing up right now. It’s so wild how much the vibe has shifted. We are moving totally away from those super rigid, high-maintenance looks that take three hours every morning, and leaning into stuff that actually looks like we live our lives, you know? But at the same time, the colors are getting so rich and gorgeous.

If you are sitting there staring at your split ends, feeling completely uninspired and wanting to reinvent yourself a little bit this season, you are in the perfect place. I’ve been keeping a giant folder on my phone of all my favorite inspiration, and I’m just gonna lay it all out for you. I’m going to break down the exact cuts, colors, and weird little styling tricks that are basically taking over right now. Let’s just get into it cause I have so much to say!

The Chops That Will Actually Make You Want To Cut It All Off

Let’s talk about cuts first, because I feel like everyone is suddenly so much braver with their scissors. If you want to keep your length but just need some actual shape, the Butterfly Cut is still reigning supreme. It is basically this heavily layered, face-framing cut that mimics the look of a blowout even when you just let it air dry. I got these layers cut in last month and let me tell you, my hair looks twice as thick. It just moves so beautifully when you walk.

If you’re wanting to go a little shorter but aren’t ready for a full chop, The “Lob” (Long Bob) is back, but it’s totally different now. It’s not that chunky, blunt lob from five years ago. Now, it’s a shoulder-skimming cut that is way less blunt and heavily layered for movement. It’s so much softer and honestly so much easier to style when you’re rushing out the door.

But okay, if you really want to make a statement, the shorter cuts right now are incredible. The Bevelled Bob is probably my absolute favorite thing I’ve seen. It’s this incredibly sharp, chin-length bob with tucked-under ends for a sleek, vintage 1920s feel. It just looks so incredibly wealthy and chic. My best friend just got this done and she literally looks like she belongs in a fancy old movie. It’s a serious commitment though, so you have to be ready to style it!

For my edgy girls, the 80s Shaggy Mullet is having a huge moment. It’s basically a punk-rock evolution of the wolf cut, with extreme volume on top and piecy ends. It takes a certain kind of confidence to pull off, but when it works, it is everything. And if you want to go super short, the Pixie 2.0 is everywhere. It’s much softer and more textured than the old spikey pixies we used to see – think “playful” rather than “architectural.” It frames the eyes so beautifully.

And we have to talk about fringe! Bangs are a huge yes right now. Birkin Bangs are definitely the most universally flattering. They are that wispy, French-girl fringe that is shorter in the middle and longer on the sides, perfectly framing your cheekbones. On the flip side, if you are super daring, Micro-Fringes are making a massive comeback. These are extremely short baby bangs that sit mid-forehead. I see them often paired with long hair or pixies, and it gives this super artsy, editorial vibe that I am totally obsessed with, even if I’m way too scared to try it myself!

Stepping Away From Flat Color

The color trends right now are all about intense dimension and insane shine. Let’s start with the blondes, because they are having a major identity shift. If you want that super high-fashion look, Pearl Blonde is exactly what you need to ask for. It’s an icy, high-shine blonde with a pearlescent, almost metallic finish. It’s definitely high maintenance, I’m not gonna lie, but the payoff is unreal.

If you are way too lazy for that (which is totally me), you will love Teddy Bear Blonde. It is exactly what it sounds like – a warm, “lived-in” golden blonde that beautifully blends honey and beige tones. It’s so soft and flattering on almost everyone. Then there is the Burnt Blonde, which is perfect if you’re trying to grow out your natural color. It’s a darker, more “rooted” blonde that looks totally sun-kissed and natural, like you spent a month at the beach.

For my brunette girlies, we are finally stepping away from those brassy, orangey fades. The biggest trend is the Slate Brunette. It is this amazing cool-toned, deep ash brown that completely avoids any red or gold hues. It looks so sleek and modern. But if you want to go super dark, Glossy Espresso is everywhere. These are ultra-shiny, near-black brunette shades that focus entirely on hair health. It’s all about making the hair look like actual glass.

And obviously, I can’t talk about color without mentioning the reds. Copper & Strawberry Blonde are still going incredibly strong. Those vibrant red-gold tones remain a huge favorite for 2026. They just make your skin completely glow, especially if you have a few freckles. I tried copper last fall and honestly, it was the most fun I’ve ever had with my hair. Just make sure you get a good color depositing shampoo because red fades so fast!

How I’m Actually Styling My Hair Everyday Without Losing My Mind

So you have the perfect cut and the dreamiest color, but how are we actually wearing it on a random Tuesday? The styling trends this year are honestly my favorite part because they range from super effortless to incredibly polished, so you can really match your mood. First of all, I need to announce that 90s Side Parts are officially making a massive comeback. We are finally moving away from the strict center part. Flipping your hair over into a deep side part instantly gives you so much root volume and just feels so fresh and slightly nostalgic.

On the days where my hair is freshly washed, I’m all about The “Soft Blowout”. It’s basically big, bouncy, Old Hollywood waves but with a much more natural, brushable finish. You don’t want tight curls; you just want that swoopy, airy volume. I use Velcro rollers at the crown of my head while I do my makeup, and it gives me that exact vibe without needing a ton of heat.

But let’s be real, I don’t have time for a blowout every day. That’s where Unkempt Glamour comes in, and it is a total lifesaver. This trend is all about lived-in, messy textures that look “air-dried” rather than perfectly styled. It’s that second or third-day hair where you just add a little bit of texturizing spray, scrunch it up, and let it do its thing. It embraces frizz just a little bit, making it look so beautifully imperfect.

When my hair is on day four and looking a bit rough, the Sleek & Slicked look is my go-to. We are seeing so many high-shine, gelled-back buns and “sculpted” updos right now. It looks so chic and intentional, but secretly it’s just the easiest way to hide greasy roots. I use a little bit of hair oil mixed with a soft hold gel and brush it straight back into a tight bun. It instantly makes any outfit look more expensive.

Finally, we have to talk about Hair Accessories because they are peak 2026 energy. Literally everywhere I look, people are adding these fun little details to their hair. Oversized bows are still huge – I love clipping one into a half-up style. Rounded satin headbands are giving major vintage vibes and save me on bad hair days, and decorative combs tucked into French twists are just so elegant. It’s basically like jewelry for your hair.
